Remy Hair

If you’ve ever had to wear a hairpiece for medical reasons, you know firsthand the
remarkable differences in the quality of hair used for hairpieces and wigs. Wearing a
hairpiece because it is a fun way to make an appearance on a red carpet or to paint the
town red is an entirely different fixation from actually needing a hairpiece for everyday use
such as below medical conditions:
•Alopecia Areata - this includes Cicatricial, Universalis, and Totalis types.
•Cancer Treatment - hair loss due to chemotherapy and in some cases radiation.
•Trichotillomania – a mental condition related to irrepressible compulsion to pull out one’s
hair.
•Male and Female Pattern Baldness – also known as androgenic alopecia.

The Difference between Non-Remy Human Hair and Remy Hair

Remy hair was first popularized in the ‘90s by celebrities and fashion-conscious
enthusiasts that were seeking the best quality human hair for their hair extensions. This
brought about a lot of urban legends regarding types of hair used in extensions, wigs and
hairpieces along with some incredible scientific breakthroughs.

Remy hair is known for a superior sheen and smoothness that other human hair products
are unable to achieve. Eventually, non-Remy hair becomes matted and breaks. This could
be attributed to several factors.

Many times, the human hair that is gathered is referred to as “fallen hair." This fallen hair is
gathered by collecting human hair from hair brushes, salon floors and other methods.
Then the hair is gathered without regard to whether the roots are all going in one direction.
This leads to matting because the human hair cuticle grows similar to the direction scales
grow in. When the hair strands are in opposite directions, the scales rub against each
other and become matted and tangled.

Non-Remy hair also goes through a chemical treatment that completely strips the cuticle in
an acid bath. Then the hair is made “soft” again by applying silicone, which eventually
wears off as you wash and style the hairpiece.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of hair replacement products out there that promise to deliver
impossible results. If you just look at the simple science and methodology used to make or
gather hair for hairpieces and wigs, you will know that most of these claims are phony or
in the very least without any real knowledge of how different styles of hair pieces and wigs
are made. On top of that, they inflate their advertising with these false claims and charge
exorbitant amounts for chemically-stripped and synthetic hair that will eventually matte
and break.

               What is Remy Human Hair?

Remy hair is hair that has been cut or shaved directly from a human head. All of the hair
cuticles are aligned in the same direction so that no hair cuticles rub up against each other
and cause tangles and breakage. The cuticles are not stripped or processed with acid
baths and silicone like in non-Remy hair.

Remy hair can be purchased in “virgin” or “non-virgin” condition. This simply means that
the virgin hair has not been chemically treated and remains in its natural state. The non-
virgin Remy hair has usually been chemically processed to achieve another color.

What are the Origins of My Remy Hairpiece?

Most of the Remy hair comes out of India. It is a religious tradition for many of the women
in India to take good care of their hair, so that they may offer it to their gods before their
wedding day in a symbolic gesture of letting go of any vanity or ego as they enter into their
marriage. Indian Remi hair (also sometimes called Indi Remy hair) is known for the
exquisite amount of personal care before they made their religious offering.

But, it’s important to remember that Remy hair does not exclusively come from India. You
may find hair from all regions of the world, especially China, Brazil and even Europe. The
place of origin is not as important as the amount of care that was given before and during
the process of making the Remy hairpiece.

A Few Last Words before You Buy Remy Hair

Because of the meticulous procedure and standards of Remy hair, you can expect to
spend more than other types of synthetic or human hair. Although Remy hair is not
superhuman, you can expect some breakage—just as you would with perfectly healthy
human hair. This is a good reason to find a Remy hair distributor that will add more hair
density for you after you purchase the hairpiece.

POLY URETHANE BASES

If you suffer from hair loss due to a medical condition such as Alopecia,
Trichotillomania, or Cancer Treatment, you may have already tried—or at least
started your research on Remy hair pieces. If you are ready to invest in a quality wig,
ensure that you have a base that you feel comfortable wearing on a daily basis.

Our poly urethane-based wigs offer the most natural look of any thin skin wig that
you could purchase. They are invisible to the naked eye due to the transparency,
and the tissue-paper thin base is totally undetectable—even by touch!

Natural human hair wigs that are not stripped with chemicals are far advanced from
many of the choices in the recent past. Our Remy hair pieces are all sorted by hand
to make sure that the cuticle is facing one direction and it is smooth without matting.
Although even with the best virgin Remy hair on the market, your level of comfort
will still be minimal if you feel that everyone can still see your “wig”.
How are HFY PU Based Wigs Different from Other Choices?

Poly Urethane (PU) Based Wigs are commonly referred to as “thin skin wigs”.  The
poly-urethane base makes the wig breathable. In fact, it is so natural-feeling that
many of our clients wear the wigs for extended periods of time of up to 6-8 weeks.
The PU-based wigs look and feel like your hair is growing from your scalp with no
sewing or no bumps and knots showing.

Take a look at the HFY PU based hair piece on our home page. The pictures show
him combing the hairpiece. Now, click on the picture where he is combing his hair.
Even enlarged, it appears totally natural and undetectable.

There’s a reason that these pieces are our most popular product that we offer. It
allows our customers that suffer from serious medical conditions to feel comfortable
and confident again.

Imagine someone running their fingers through your hair and never knowing the
difference—or sitting across the table from someone and never wondering if they
are staring at the line of your wig while you are talking to them. You can go
swimming, shower, play sports, and even sleep in your wig.

If you have lived with a serious hair loss condition, you know that this is a level of
comfort that is priceless. Yet don’t worry; you aren’t going to break the bank. In fact,
our thin skin wigs are less expensive than many of the inferior synthetic options
available.
How are HFY PU Based Wigs Made?

The base of the wig is injected by hand with individual pieces of Remy hair into a
layer of poly-urethane that is as thin as tissue paper. A second layer is then applied
over it to secure it. You will be able to brush the wig from the forehead back without
pulling it up. It is completely transparent and looks like hair growing out of the scalp.

As with all wigs, you can expect a certain amount of hair breakage, but we offer a
free hair replacement within the first three months of your purchase. After that, as
long as your base is in good shape, we will replace hair on an as-needed basis at a
minimal charge.

For this reason, we offer a substantial discount on the purchase of two wigs. If you
ever send one back, you will still have one to wear in the meantime. We also offer a
25% discount to children suffering from Alopecia or who have cancer. We know that
hair loss for children can be especially hard and will do everything that we can to
make it possible to have the most natural-looking hairpiece available.

If you have any additional questions about thin skin wigs, please don’t hesitate to
